Sisterhood is the main fund-raising arm of Temple Judea. Our funds are raised through attending Broadway Shows, Special Events luncheons and dinners, Card Parties, etc. We also handle contributions to various funds such as the Flower Fund, Oneg Shabbat, Tribute Cards and the Mitzvah Fund. In addition, Sisterhood maintains a beautiful well stocked Judaic Shop in the Temple building that is open to the public. We have also instituted six Shabbat Dinners for this year which is intended to bring about camaraderie amongst our members and guests.

Our own Dr. Henry Nahoum will speak about "The Customs & History of Sephardic Jewry." Dr. Nahoum. will relate the history of Sephardic Jews as well as describe their customs & traditions. Learn about how their practices differ from East European Jewry. Discussion & questions will follow.

Lillian Michelson will review the book, The Loves of Judith by Meir Shalev. The story is partly mythical as well as emotional & quite different from the usual novel. Judith arrives at a small town in Palestine to become housekeeper to a widower's children. Three men, whose advances she has rejected for 10 years, claim to be the father of her unborn baby. She refuses to marry any of them, but each one takes a turn raising the child. Come take part in discussion following the review. Everyone welcome ~ Refreshments ~ No charge.
