Sisterhood is the main fund-raising arm of Temple Judea. Our funds are raised through attending Broadway Shows, Special Events luncheons and dinners, Card Parties, etc. We also handle contributions to various funds such as the Flower Fund, Oneg Shabbat, Tribute Cards and the Mitzvah Fund. In addition, Sisterhood maintains a beautiful well stocked Judaic Shop in the Temple building that is open to the public. We have also instituted six Shabbat Dinners for this year which is intended to bring about camaraderie amongst our members and guests.

Message from Sisterhood Co-Presidents
Rita and I have settled comfortably into our roles as Sisterhood Co-Presidents. This is due largely to the wonderful Sisterhood Board members who are so very helpful, encouraging and cooperative. Part of our job is to interact with the Temple Board. Therefore, please contact us and let us know if you have any concerns or interests that you want brought to their attention.

Shalom,
Bea Gatzek and Rita Frazer

Judaic Book, Gift and Art Fair
The June Bulletin reported that the Sisterhood was planning a Bazaar in November. Now, however, our goals are clearly defined. We concluded that a Jewish book, gift and art fair will be more productive. We will reach out to the Laguna Woods Jewish community to solicit donations of Judaica:  Menorahs, Seder & Sabbath Plates, Pictures, Plaques, etc. We will also seek books with Jewish/Israeli themes such as:  Novels, Politics, History, and Biographies. Also, we will welcome decorative bric-a-brac, such as figurines, vases and even table lamps. Our intent is to attract Laguna Woods residents and introduce them to our beautiful Temple. Your tzedaka will help to make this a WIN-WIN event! Community and congregation advertisement will continue as long as the  donations come in. In addition to your contributions, I welcome your suggestions for making our Judaica Fair a huge success. Call Bea Gatzek at 455-1237, or at the Temple Gift Shop.

Sisterhood Fashion Show
Did you ever feel slighted because you weren’t invited to the fashion shows in Paris, Milan and London? Get over it. You wouldn’t have enjoyed seeing a group of anorexic, teen-aged models wriggling and prancing down a runway, modeling “designer” concoctions that actually look like bizarre Halloween costumes. Instead, attend the Sisterhood Fashion Show on September 15, featuring classy clothing, modeled by our own classy Sisterhood members. In addition, you will enjoy a great lunch. Could you have had all of that in Paris for only $15.00? More information will follow in the next bulletin.
